We had several presentations of e-books this week. We heard pro and cons on using E-books in the class room with students. How do you feel about using E-books in your future class rooms? Do you think the good will out way the bad? Will E-books and technology eventually replace traditional reading and education in general?
I feel like e-books are great for grades higher than middle school, because of work load and easy access to all their books. But I think for small children they need to learn the fundamentals of reading in a real book.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind reading from a screen so E books don't bother me. Sometimes I do prefer to hold the book, but that is mostly because I don't own an E book reader so reading for me is stationary at a computer in electronic form. E books could save me some serious shelf space but I also do like to have the books I have.
ReplyDeleteAs an instructor space is always a concern for me so e books would be essential.
All of the presentations arose many great points about the benefits of e-books, such a lighter backpack. But I feel that hard copy books should still be available to the students and that only children middle school. I agree with Searose that young children need o learn the fundamentals first!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the ebooks are beneficial in some cases but I still prefer an old fashioned book. If ebooks were avaliable in my classroom I would make them the second choice after a hard copy book!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy obscure books, I had a hard time finding some of my favorite titles on the store site...I also have a hard time letting go of the object which is a book, I am a signing artist, basically, the conceptual value of a book still out ways the practicality that is an ebook, I'll wrestle with that choice when more of my titles are available.
